West Coast Cruisers is working in conjunction with Dobinsons to offer
enhanced suspension options for the FJ Cruiser. We have complete our
initial test with our option 1 kits and continue to test other kits we will
be offering for the FJ Cruiser.
Dobinsons spring & suspensions has been in business for over 50 years and
supplies quality suspensions to over 23 countries around the world.
The FJ Cruiser is based on the same platform as the 4runner and Lexus GX470.
These three Toyota SUV's offered in
North America are based on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which has been sold
world wide for over 20 years. The Prado model grew from the 70 series
Land Cruiser in the 1980's and had grown into its own legendary and
distinctive model today. While the FJ is based on the Prado, it is not
entirely the same as the Prado, and considering the Prado is offered in over
12 different sub-models it certainly explains why it is based on but not the
same as the Prado.
Don't be fouled by claims that the FJ Cruiser has the
SAME suspension as the 4runner, or Prado, because it is not. The
characteristics of the FJ (mainly weight distribution, wheel base, and
balance) required a similar however different suspension to properly offer
lift and suspension enhancements without losing overall drivability and
offroad ability of the FJ Cruiser . It is this approach that requires
Dobinsons and West Coast Cruisers to properly build and test suspension
enhancements for the FJ Cruiser.
